For or Against? Doesn't matter... Attend Monday's Town Board Referendum Meeting and be an Educated Voter

Humour me for just a moment.  Are you for or against this referendum?  No, wait... don't answer that question... well, not just yet. Let's be honest - what do you really know about this?  How can you vote for something without knowing the facts?  Therein lies my question - and my concerns.  Allow me to explain by illustration:

Say you were going to buy a new car.  Would you buy the car based upon the basic idea that a car is transportation?  Let's face it....  a car is merely a device with wheels, an engine, some other common parts and that's all, right?  Well, in its very basic form, yes - but you would never buy a car based upon such limited information, would you?

Of course not.

You'd seek out information... visit the different dealerships, review options - colour, engine size, gas mileage... Hell, you might even take into account the sound system included in the purchase.

I know I'm over-simplifying this but the fact is, you would never just buy a car sight unseen.

Yet, if you fail to do your part and attend the referendum meeting to learn more you're really only buying a car without looking under the hood, kicking the tires, or even considering taking a test drive.

What I ask is that, not unlike buying a car, we be shown - in details we can understand - what it is we're being offered for sale.  Show us what the reasons are for extending the current term limits.  Prove to the people that this is an action that would benefit the town residents. Explain to us what it is all about and why.

There may be good reasons for voting yes - there may be good reasons for voting no... it's for us to decide come election time.

Attend... listen... ask questions.... get involved!
