Your Right to Know

 Open, transparent, and accountable government

For many years, the Federal Government and most states, including New York, have had laws on the books affirming government is the servant and not the master of the people and, therefore, the public, individually and collectively, have the right to know the process of governmental decision-making and to review the documents and statistics leading to determinations.

Kent Fiscal Watch firmly embraces the spirit of the New York Freedom of Information Law and believes local government, like all government, works best when it is open, transparent, and accountable to the people. To that end it is our policy and practice to work with our local officials and government employees to promptly and routinely publish on the town and county government websites as many public records as is practicable.
